Our YMCA Today
Today, through our six
neighborhood YMCA branches, child care sites
and outreach centers, the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula positively
impacts more than 50,000 people with a broad range of programs
tailored to the needs of an ever growing and changing
community.
A non-profit, non-sectarian organization,
the YMCA is governed by community volunteers who serve
on its Board of Directors. One hundred percent of all
funds raised through our annual Community Support Campaign are used to underwrite program fees for children and
families who require financial assistance.
Our Mission
The YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula, based
on the values of caring , honesty, respect and responsibility
improves life through experiences enriching spirit, mind
and body for all.
Our
Core Values
The YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula strives
to incorporate our four core values, caring, honesty,
respect and
responsibility, in all of our programs, activities
and interpersonal interactions taking place at our
YMCA branches.
- Caring: To love others, to be sensitive
to the well being of others, to help others.
- Honesty: To tell the truth, to act in such a way that you
are worthy of trust, to have integrity; making
sure your choices match your values.
- Respect: To
treat others as you would have them treat you; to
value the worth of every person,
including
yourself.
- Responsibility: To do what is right,
what you ought to do; to be accountable for your
behavior and
obligations.
How We Are Funded
The YMCA is funded by our membership
and program fees, individual and corporate donors, and foundations
and grants. The annual
Community Support Campaign raises money for our
Financial Assistance
Program, allowing the YMCA to offer facilities and programs to children, individuals and families regardless of one's financial means.
