Staff Biographies
Senior Vice President of Operations / COO
Elizabeth Jordan joins the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula with more than 15 years of professional experience within the YMCA, having served previously in the YMCA of San Francisco, YMCA of San Diego County, and Valley of the Sun YMCA Associations. Prior to graduating with a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin (with honors, summa cum laude, 1993), Elizabeth worked as a program instructor at a nearby YMCA and managed a public aquatics facility. After her graduation, she assumed the position of Health/Fitness Director at the Mesa Family YMCA in Mesa, AZ. Her next position was as Fitness and Teen Program Director at the Magdalena Ecke YMCA in Encinitas, CA.
The opportunity to direct a YMCA resident camp (YMCA Camp Jones Gulch, a branch of the YMCA of San Francisco) enticed Elizabeth to relocate to the Bay Area and resume a full time professional commitment to the YMCA. After three years at YMCA Camp Jones Gulch, Elizabeth became the Executive Director at the Presidio Community YMCA in San Francisco. Now at the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula, Elizabeth serves as the association’s Chief Operating Officer to lead the operations of the $20 million organization.
Elizabeth learned to swim at the St. Cloud (MN) YMCA while in elementary school. She subsequently swam competitively, and competed throughout high school and college. She credits the YMCA with providing her with a lifelong interest in aquatics, which has enhanced her life both personally and professionally. Elizabeth and her husband Bill currently live in Redwood City with their daughter, Kate.
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Eduardo Barrantes is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of both the YMCA of the Mid Peninsula and the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley Associations, and brings 30 years experience in the corporate world to the position.
He has held the title of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in high-tech, financial, and medical international corporations, and has spent several years as a financial consultant to many other multi-nationals organizations. Ed has an MBA in Finance from UCLA Graduate School of Management and a BA in Accounting and Economics from San Jose State University and is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.
Ed is committed to the mission of the YMCA and is particularly passionate about the YMCA's work with youth.
Vice President of Property
David Fisch joined the YMCA near the end of 2001 to help expand and improve Y facilities as the Director of Facility Development. Having recently served in project management capacities for the International School of the Peninsula, as well as the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, David offers a high level of project control to the planning and construction process. David contributed to the expansion of the El Camino YMCA, where a 32,000 square foot addition included a new gym, aerobics, cardio and weight rooms. David’s most recent project is the development of a full-service 32,000 square foot YMCA facility in East Palo Alto.
David received a Master's Degree from San Jose State University in Urban & Regional Planning, as well as professional certification in project management. Having worked to expand facilities for private companies, improve economic and physical developments within cities, and manage facility expansion for non-profit organizations, David brings a variety of skills and perspectives to the YMCA. When not working on major projects, David enjoys hiking, exercising, tennis and soccer.
Vice President of Financial Development
Anne Marie Krogh began her work with the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula in 1996 as the Director of Marketing & Communications. Promoted to Vice President of Financial Development in 1998, Anne Marie now oversees the fundraising operations across the entire five-branch, $20 million YMCA association. She most recently contributed to the completion of a $16 million capital campaign to build and endow a brand new facility for the East Palo Alto YMCA. A graduate of Stanford University, Anne Marie began her professional career in the University's department of athletics where she worked for six years. Today she remains a devoted Cardinal fan, and can be found at many Stanford athletic events cheering her team.
Director of Risk Management
Jackie Dion is Director of Risk Management of both the YMCA of the Mid Peninsula and the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley Associations, and brings over 5 years of experience to the position. For the past five years, she has dedicated herself to providing excellence in environmental health and safety in the Retail Industry in many diverse areas including Corporate Offices, Pharmacies, Warehouses, Photo Labs and Distribution Centers. She managed the safety efforts of 53 retail stores, three Corporate Offices and over 4000 employees. Working with three different districts in over 30 different cities has been very demanding and has required creativity, and an appreciation for diversity.
Jackie has completed some course at the Master’s level at the Levy School of Business, Santa Clara University and has BA in Economics from San Jose State University. In addition, Jackie holds a wide variety of professional certifications in safety and ergonomics. She has been a volunteer at the Central YMCA Branch on and off for the last 10 years and was nominated Rookie of Year in 1991 and Veteran of the Year 1993 for her fundraising efforts. She has also chaired the Parent Advisory Committee, volunteered in the preschool and organized Parent Work Days. Jackie is proud to be of service to her community at the YMCA and carry its mission to the families of the Santa Clara Valley and Mid-Peninsula Associations.
Director of Marketing and Communications
Passionate about social justice and serving the community, Rachel Kinney first joined the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula as a Public Ally AmeriCorps member at the YMCA in East Palo Alto. After her year of service doing community and volunteer development for East Palo Alto Y, she accepted a position at the El Camino YMCA as their Director of Marketing to pursue both her professional and personal interest in social marketing. Promoted in April 2007 as the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula’s Director of Marketing and Communications, she currently oversees all marketing and communications for the six YMCAs in the Mid-Peninsula.
Rachel received a B.A in Communication and a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from the University of California, Davis. Prior to working at the Y, Rachel worked in public relations for a television station in Sacramento. In her spare time, she volunteers for various non-profits, is an avid rock climber and enjoys water sports and traveling to and learning about new places and other cultures.
Director of Human Resources
Alexander joined the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula in September 2004 where he worked as Executive Director of the Page Mill Branch until 2006. In 2006 he joined the Association Office staff as Director of Human Resources. He formerly worked for the YMCA of San Francisco where he began as an assistant business manager of the Stonestown branch in 1991 and worked his way to be the Branch Manager of the Buchanan Branch by 2003. Alexander is a faculty trainer for the YMCA of the USA, and is a principal character dancer for Berkeley City Ballet. Alexander's professional memberships include the American Society for Training and Development, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Northern California Human Resources Association, and the Association of YMCA Professionals where he currently serves as the President of the regional chapter. Alexander holds a bachelor's in dance — performance/choreography from San Francisco State University and a master's in human resources and organization development from the University of San Francisco.
